Key figures related to social housing
The problem of social housing is glaring in Cameroon:
- 2 million units is the deficit in social housing in Cameroon in 2020;
- 452 insolvent tenants will be evicted from SIC housing in Bertoua, Buea, Douala, Garoua, and Yaoundé;
- 431 million CFA francs is the amount of sums due assessed by the SIC and claimed from tenants in arrears;
- The SIC being legalistic, initiates eviction actions for rent fraud within the meaning of article 322 paragraph 1 of the Cameroonian Penal Code.
- The scourge of subletting SIC housing estates prohibited by article 11 of the lease agreement concerns more than 25% of housing.
