Made in Cameroon: MIPROMALO sets an example with its headquarters building made of local materials
On November 29, 2022, the Minister of Scientific Research and Innovation, Dr. Madeleine TCHUENTÉ, inaugurated the headquarters building of the Mission for the Promotion of Local Materials (MIPROMALO), built with local materials. Erected on a little more than 800 m2, this building of type R+2 is built in bricks of stabilized terra cotta, covered by a wooden frame and tiles known as "micro-concrete", fruits of the research of the MIPROMALO. "This building highlights different types of materials, which is likely to provide thermal and acoustic comfort to the work that its occupants are called to perform. Comparative economic gains have been achieved," said Minister Madeleine TCHUENTÉ. Indeed, according to the estimates of the experts of the MIPROMALO, the use of these local materials allowed to reduce the cost of this building of approximately 20%.
