Cameroon-Saudi Arabia: A Saudi loan of CFAF 6 billion for the construction of the Mbalmayo Regional Hospital

Sultan Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Murshed and Alamine Ousmane Mey signed the loan agreement

The signing of this loan agreement took place on August 26 between the Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT) and the CEO of the Saudi Development Fund. This financing agreement is for the construction of the regional hospital in Mbalmayo, a town located about 40 kilometers south of Yaoundé. For a loan of CFAF 6 billion, this project is valued at CFAF 25.5 billion. Other partners involved in the project include the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (about CFAF 7 billion) and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (about CFAF 6 billion). The Cameroonian counterpart amounts to 2.4 billion CFA francs. The infrastructure will be built on 14,000 m2 where the operational health services will occupy an area of 8,500 m2. The project includes the rehabilitation of roads and their connection to the national road network to facilitate access to the hospital.
