Regional elections: the election of Regional Councilors is called for Sunday December 06, 2020
The President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul BIYA, signed Decree No. 2020/547 of Monday, September 07, 2020, calling the electoral colleges for the election of 900 Regional Councilors, i.e. 90 per region. The electoral colleges are convened at the capital of each department on Sunday, December 6, 2020, for the purpose of electing the Regional Councilors. The election of the Regional Councils will complete the establishment of the institutions provided for in the Constitution of January 18, 1996, which established Cameroon as "a decentralized unitary state". It also completes the decentralization process in Cameroon. Indeed, the law on the General Code of Decentralized Territorial Collectivities promulgated by the President of the Republic on December 24, 2019 provides that the Territorial Collectivities in our country are the regions and the municipalities. Another step towards a more developed democracy.
