The President of the Republic decides on the equipment of Decentralized Territorial Communities

The President of the Republic calls on the State to further integrate Decentralized Territorial Communities in the fight against the Covid-19.

Cameroonian municipalities are facing the health crisis caused by the Covid-19 epidemic. They are called upon to support public action undertaken by the State to limit and then break the chains of transmission of the pandemic which has spread after the budget votes for most municipalities. Lacking financial means, they placed themselves on the front line of the response at the local level: awareness-raising and supply of hygiene equipment at the neighborhood level, traditional chiefdoms, municipal structures, markets, shops and large surfaces (soaps, hydroalcoholic gels, masks, etc.). They gave a moment for everyone to comply with the barrier measures advocated by the government and the World Health Organization (WHO). After committing their meager means to protect their populations from the coronavirus, the Decentralized Territorial Collectivities (CTD) are showing signs of shortness of breath and are all demanding a special endowment to prevent the spread of the disease. It is in this context that the President of the Republic has just granted a special 360 CTD and / or Arrondissements of Cameroon, composed of medical products and equipment valued at nearly two billion CFA francs:
      1) 50,000 cartons of laundry soap, or 4,000,000 (four million) pieces of soap;
      2) 1,500,000 (one million five hundred thousand) protective masks for populations;
      3) 50,000 (fifty thousand) surgical masks for hospital staff;
      4) 75,000 (seventy-five thousand) household buckets;
      5) 40,000 (forty thousand) hand-washing cans, with a capacity of 30 liters each;
      6) Rapid screening test kits;
      7) Respiratory devices for hospitals.
In order to strengthen measures aimed at containing the spread of Covid-19 in Cameroon. The presidential decision also calls on the state to integrate the CTDs into the management of the Covid-19.
