The blood bank at Yaounde Central Hospital, Cameroon's political capital, has just received the Level 1 certification from the African Blood Transfusion Society's Step-Wise accreditation program. This is the first international certification of a blood bank in Cameroon. The United States helped to build the bank. "This achievement reflects the collaboration between the US government and the Cameroonian government to strengthen the health sector and improve the health outcomes of Cameroonians," reads a statement from the US Embassy.
