Government reassures on procedures for granting, withdrawing and rehabilitating land titles

Henri EYEBE AYISSI, Minister of Lands, Cadastre and Land Affairs (MINDCAF)

Responding to an oral question from Senator Françoise PUENE ("The land title is unassailable, intangible and definitive. So, what explains the instability sometimes observed in the delivery of this certification in Cameroon?"), on Friday June 20, 2025, the Minister of Domains, Cadastre and Land Affairs (MINDCAF) indicated that, the public authorities continue to work to improve the system of attribution, withdrawal, rehabilitation or modification of the land title. These procedures are essentially carried out within the framework of current regulations. MINDCAF stated that :

  •      His department has implemented mechanisms aimed at reducing administrative errors (concealment of file elements, etc.).
  •     His department is focusing on the fight against corruption, to counteract the actions of certain rogue agents and the refusal of certain collaborators to carry out instructions aimed at securing these procedures, or to communicate court rulings.

MINDCAF also points out that:

  •      The procedure for obtaining a land title is not discriminatory, contrary to popular belief (the rules apply to everyone in the same way, depending on the type of land requested).
  •     The idea that foreigners are favored over nationals is false. In fact, several local investors have been granted plots of land to carry out their projects.
