Operation
A series of measures to relax the atmosphere was taken on March 9, 2022 by the Head of State. After the press conference which involved 05 members of the government, on Thursday March 10, 2022, the media reported that:
• teachers have a mixed reception and brandish precedents where public authorities have already used such measures, particularly in 2017, without really encouraging structural change;
• "The strikers reject the government's proposals" because the main demands of the teachers, ignored by the government, relate essentially to their special status signed for 22 years;
• "the 'OTS' movement repudiates the government". The strikers do not believe in the respect of the instructions given by the President of the Republic to his collaborators.
• Members of the OTS movement have estimated the financial impact of the measures decided by the Head of State at 31 billion FCFA. This amount would represent only 1/6th of the total amount of their claims, 181 billion FCFA.
Negotiations continue. Everything must be done for a return to normal in the education sector in Cameroon.
