Construction of the «Paul BIYA» Stadium at Olembe

The construction of the "Paul BIYA" stadium in the Olembe district at the northern exit of the city of Yaoundé is advancing. The earthwork phase is completed. The Olembe stadium is located at about 13 Km from the center of Yaounde. With a capacity of 60,000 seats, this covered stadium will include a natural grass play area with FIFA standards, two training stadiums, commercial spaces and accommodation facilities. The cost of the works is 163 billion CFA francs. Two credit agreements for the financing of the project were signed in August 2016 by the Minister of Economy, Planning and Town and Country Planning (MINEPAT). The Italian bank Intesa Sanpaolo supports 85\% of the total cost of construction. The contribution of this Italian financial institution, in the form of a loan, is divided into two parts. On the one hand, a buyer credit of 111.52 billion CFA francs guaranteed by the SCE, the Italian Government's guarantee agency for export and on the other hand, a tied trade credit of 27,027 billion francs CFA. This financing will be supplemented by a Cameroon counterpart of CFAF 24.45 billion, representing 15\% of the cost of the project.

A Cameroon-Italy match at this Olembe stadium, the Italians are thinking about it before or after the 2019 African Cup of Nations (CAN).
