The Drinking Water Supply Project in the city of Yaoundé and its surroundings from the Sanaga River (PAEPYS) in Nachtigal is a large project that will produce an additional 300,000 m3 / day of drinking water for the benefit of the capital city and of its surroundings, in its first phase at the end of 2020 and 400,000 m3 / day of drinking water in its extension phase. Yaoundé currently has around 4 million inhabitants. Peak needs for their drinking water supply were estimated in 2016 at 315,000 m3 / day. Akomnyada's water treatment plant, its only source of drinking water, produces at best nearly 100,000 m3 / day. This creates a production deficit of around 215,000 m3 / day. As a result, Yaoundé is experiencing the rationing of drinking water. The details of the project indicate, among other things: studies, the raw water collection and pumping station in Nachtigal, the water treatment plant in Emana – Batchenga, the construction of the 90kV / 30kV transformer station in Nkometou, the pumping recovery station of treated water in Nkometou, supplies of materials and equipment, etc. Its technical sheet can be summarized as: contracting authority (Ministry of Public Procurement - MINMAP), Contracting Authority (Ministry of Water and Energy - MINEE), Project Management (SEURECA / A2PE / BETEM Group), Company (EPC (studies, supplies and achievements)), Deadlines (36 months (from 12/30/2016) + 24 months (from 01/01/2020)) of implementation, Type of contract (), Funding (EXIM BANK of China: 85% of the total cost of services, State of Cameroon: 15% of the total cost of services).
