Fight against Covid-19: how to avoid a rebound?

Dr Georges Alain Etoundi Mballa

Dr Georges Alain Etoundi Mballa, Director of the fight against disease, epidemics and pandemics at the Minister of Public Health (MINSANTE), made public on Thursday 07 January 2021 the latest data on the Covid-19 pandemic in Cameroon. Since March 6, 2020, the date of the diagnosis of the first case of coronavirus: 27,336 people have been infected with the virus, 26,252 patients have been cured and 451 cases of death have been deplored. These figures confirm the upward trend in cases of Covid-19 contamination. The high cure rate of 96% and the low case fatality rates of 1.6%, severity 0.2% and bed occupancy 1.5% are commendable. Indeed, the country has 633 active cases and very few patients in the care units (Upec). At the start of the second term to school and a few days before the start of the African Nations Championship (CHAN), avenues have been explored by MINSANTE officials in order to avoid a rebound in the pandemic. The country's health authorities invite all components of the population to scrupulously respect the barrier measures prescribed by the President of the Republic and the WHO.
