Yaoundé hosts two specialized Covid-19 patient care centers

The traditional hospitals being narrow to accommodate many active patients of the coronavirus (692 as of April 24, 2020), the Prime Minister Head of Government decided to create special centers for the care of patients with Covid-19 (" CSPP-COVID-19 ”for short), April 20, 2020, schedules of certain large hospitals. The city of Yaoundé is home to two (02) of these centers, respectively the CSPP du Stade Militaire and Mvog-Mbi, a place called "Carrefour Zoe", in the old building of the luxury equipment company ORCA. The latter has a capacity of 290 beds. These two Yaoundé CSPPs are under the responsibility of the Yaoundé Central Hospital (HCY). The CSPP-COVID-19 are responsible for the administration of care and medical follow-up for victims and are subject to the rules of operation and organization of public health services. Each center will be administered by medical specialists or general practitioners appointed by the Minister of Public Health, on the basis of a chief assisted by two assistants. In addition, the city of Douala hosts two centers (Mbappe Lepe stadium, Nyassa social housing camp responding to the Laquintinie hospital), the city of Bafoussam also hosts two centers (Social housing camp and the Toket stadium under the responsibility of the 'regional hospital), a center for the city of Limbe (Middle Farm Stadium) and the center of Stade Roumdé Adja de Garoua under the responsibility of the regional hospital of the same city. The Prime Minister’s decree indicates that other centers may be created in other localities as necessary.
