The funding of start-ups is at the heart of this meeting between business, institutional and financial promoters. “Financing start-ups in the development of SMEs in Cameroon: challenges and opportunities.” This is the theme of the 5th National Days of Small and Medium Enterprises (JNPME) which are held from December 11 to 13 at the Palais des Congrès de Yaounde. Opened by the Minister of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Crafts (Minpmeesa), Achile Bassilekin III, the meeting brings together institutional players, SME promoters and economic operators. For three days, it is about examining the ecosystem of start-ups to better operate the strategic choices and effective operational mechanisms. The objective, according to the Minpmeesa, is to facilitate access to funding for these star-ups to allow SMEs to grow and create added value. It is also a question in the context of the innovation village, of discovering the creativity potential of young people. But above all to give them the opportunity to acquire financing from banks, development partners, to take the step towards mass production. According to the National Institute of Statistics (INS), SMEs represent 97% of the Cameroonian industrial fabric and contribute nearly 13% of the country's gross domestic product (GDP).
