What are the high expectations of municipal magistrates?
In his inaugural address on November 6, 2018, President Paul BIYA declared: "... I firmly believe ... that the acceleration of our decentralization process will strengthen the development of our regions". How to accelerate the process of decentralization, one of the projects that will be most prominent during the seven-year "Great Opportunities"? The municipal magistrates ask to: - let the mayors manage the proximity; - increase the financial endowment of the communes by the state (1 billion CFA francs per commune, 10% of the state budget); - pay the contractors for the projects actually carried out; - establish a territorial civil service; - and allocate more resources to municipalities (human, financial).
