It was yesterday in Yaounde during the assizes marking the celebration of the World Day of Blindness that the Ministry of Public Health through its Secretary of State Celebrated under the theme: "Eye Care within our reach". An evaluation of the second phase of the national strategic plan, which ran from 2015 to 2019, showed that progress has been made in the fight against this disease and its prevention. Indeed, cataract in Cameroon is the cause of blindness. However, it is preventable. There is an improvement in the quality of care that is due to the ongoing training of the human resource. It goes without saying that awareness is not left out. However, challenges remain. Firstly, the question of data collection, the availability of drinking water in endemic areas, the recovery of technical platforms, the financing of eye care and the further strengthening of human resources capacities.
