Yaoundé: a newspaper lists high-risk areas
A survey has been carried out on 07 other sites which could experience similar fortunes to the Mbankolo case.
- NDI SAMBA (Yaoundé-Sud University), at Ladybird School. Water crosses the road near a lake, and the culvert is blocked;
- Ngousso, place-dit Ebama behind the former Eiforces headquarters. Serious cracks were observed on a slope supporting the population, with a serious risk of landslide;
- Ekounou, "Deux chevaux" locality. Rapid erosion of the road creating a huge hole below with risk of collapse in these rainy weather conditions;
- Mbog-Abang, Yaoundé, near the Church of the Hour. A subsidence can be seen there, as well as a road that is regularly flooded with mudflows;
- Yaoundé-Nsimalen airport road at the level of the Groupement Bene chiefdom. As in Ekounou, at a place called "deux chevaux";
- Mfou-Yaoundé 4 boundary on the airport road, at a place called "Privilège". The culvert, rebuilt a few years ago, can no longer withstand the water;
- Odza boundary 12: a blocked culvert means that water remains high up on one side, unable to circulate, while the opposite side is more than 4 m below ground.
