Plastic waste: 80% of a person's health is linked to their environment
On June 5, 2023, Société des Boissons du Cameroun (SABC) marked the celebration of World Environment Day with drain-cleaning and plastic waste collection activities in the cities of Douala, Yaoundé and Bafoussam. SABC CEO Stéphane DESCAZEAUD outlined the company's ambitions during a drain-cleaning operation on the "Mboppi" watercourse and at the edge of the Sandaga market in Douala. We have signed an agreement with our partners NaméRecycling and SC2R for the collection and recycling of plastic bottles. With the support of these partners, we will soon be collecting and recycling almost 80% of our plastic waste. Our goal is to reach the threshold of 10,000 tonnes of plastic waste collected per year", he declared, adding that the theme of World Environment Day 2023 was "solutions to plastic pollution".
