PATNUC: Project to Accelerate Digital Transformation in Cameroon

By 2029, the government wants to close the digital divide, while increasing the Internet penetration rate, the digital access index, the data transfer rate, for a more inclusive Cameroonian society. The PATNUC project was launched on January 18, 2023 in Yaoundé. It is financed to the tune of 61.73 billion FCFA by the World Bank. PATNUC will help develop the supply of digital services, increase demand and strengthen governance and regulation.

  •     36.5%, the Internet penetration rate between 2010 (4.3%) and 2022 in Cameroon.
  •     4.55 million, the number of active users of social networks in Cameroon.
  •     10.5 million, the number of identified Internet users in Cameroon at the beginning of January 2022.
  •     10,000, the number of jobs created in the digital sector for the period 2000-2016.
  •      Ranking of social networks in Cameroon for 2022: Facebook (4.1 million), Linkedln (820,000), Intsgram (613,600), Twitter (145,300).
  •      36% the proportion of people excluded from the financial system.
  •     24% of the population is banked in Cameroon.
  •      52% overall rate of use of financial services.
  •     42 (+) the number of public and private companies already aggregated to the National Platform for Electronic Communications Aggregation (NPSI), as of July 5, 2022.
