Telecommunications: The public operator CAMTEL posts a net profit of CFAF 7.2 billion in 2021, down 1.4%.
The company does not explain this decline, but an analysis of CAMTEL's data shows a decline in revenue from 156.5 billion CFA francs in 2020 to 151.09 billion CFA francs in 2021, a decline of 3.4% year-on-year. Also, CAMTEL paid more taxes in 2021: CFAF 7.4 billion compared to CFAF 2.9 billion in fiscal 2020. This reduced net income. In addition, CAMTEL saw its operating income fall by nearly 10 billion in 2021. In fact, the company posted an operating income of 17.6 billion in 2021, compared with 27.1 billion CFA francs in 2020.
