Garbage on the public highway: The CUY is cracking down on the unhealthy
After two years of sensitization on hygiene and sanitation in the capital, the Yaoundé Urban Community (CUY) has decided to move to the repressive phase.
From now on, anyone caught depositing, abandoning, throwing or dumping household waste on the public highway may be arrested and fined. The announcement was made by the mayor of the city, Mr. Luc MESSI ATANGANA, in an interview this Thursday, April 21, on public radio. This measure, according to the Mayor of Yaounde, aims at "maintaining a constant state of cleanliness in the city and to establish a culture of cleanliness and good order, which would like everyone to be able to dissuade his neighbor if he is about to commit an uncivil act.
