In a speech on the theme: "The weakening of Land Title in Cameroon", Mr. Joseph FonkweFongang indicated that:
• “Obtaining a Land Title to a plot of land was a major event in the life and even the beneficiary family”.
• "In recent years, the land title seems to lose its value and is subject to unjustified trivialization" to the point of becoming "a document with a very limited life expectancy".
• "The alteration of Land Titles is largely attributable to the indelicacy" of public officials and administrative authorities, complacent notaries, etc.
Mr. Joseph FonkweFongang recalled the three fundamental characteristics of this document giving access to land ownership. He is :
• Unassailable, as long as it cannot be challenged upon delivery.
• Intangible, because it cannot be modified, except in the case of rectification.
• Definitive, because it grants once on the land concerned, and does not admit any concurrent title.
These are characters that apply when this document is issued according to the rules of the art.
