Civil service: Cameroon projects a 5.5% payroll increase to CFAF 1,064.6 billion in 2022

A view of Yaoundé

According to MINFI, "the increase in personnel costs is globally attributable to salary items, which amounted to 1,064.6 billion in 2022 against 1,009.3 billion in 2021", i.e. an increase of 5.5%, due in particular to "the continued support for new recruitments of public service and law enforcement personnel". Resources for bonuses, allowances and various gratuities paid to government officials were maintained at their 2021 level at CFAF 59.2 billion. With this projected increase in staff costs in 2022, Cameroon still remains in the category of countries that do not respect the payroll sustainability ratio.
