Universal Health Coverage (UHC): local elected representatives involved

Yesterday, October 24, 2023, the Mayors and other elected representatives of the Centre region received tools to ensure that the CSU is properly informed and successfully implemented. The Governor of the region, NASERI Paul BEA, gave them a number of messages to take back to their communities:

•      Preventive and promotional services on various health topics are free of charge;
•      Consultations for all illnesses and treatment of simple or severe malaria for children aged 0 to 5 are free;
•     Childbirth and care for newborns up to 42 days of age costs just 6,000 FCFA;
•     Treatment for people living with HIV, tuberculosis and onchocerciasis is free;
•     The cost of dialysis sessions is reduced to 15,000 FCFA instead of 520,000 FCFA per year.  

Municipal magistrates must ensure that the public is aware of all these efforts, and that they are effectively implemented in their localities.
